About the travel itinerary planner
What is a travel itinerary planner?
A travel itinerary planner organises your trip day by day: what you will do, at what time and where, along with booking references and notes. A good itinerary is a single page you can check on the road instead of searching through emails for a hotel confirmation or train time. It also reveals problems before you leave, such as a packed day that is not physically possible.
This free travel itinerary planner lets you name your trip, set the first day and the number of days, then add activities with a day, time, description and any place or booking reference. Items sort by time within each day card. Copy the itinerary, print it, download CSV or export an ICS file to your calendar. It runs in your browser with no account, so you can plan in advance and take the result offline.
How to plan the trip
- Name the trip, set the first day and choose how many days it lasts.
- Add the fixed things first: flights, trains, hotel check-in and any tickets or reservations.
- Add the activities you want: sights, meals, tours and free time.
- Review each day card. Items sort by time so you can see how the day flows.
- Copy, print, download CSV or export to your calendar.
Building a realistic day
The common mistake in travel planning is trying to do too much. Allow travel time between places, queueing time at popular sights and time to eat. Two or three main activities a day is plenty for most people; more leaves little room to enjoy any of them. Group activities by area to reduce time in transit. Leave some gaps: the best moments on a trip are often unplanned.
Check opening hours and booking requirements for each activity, and note them in the entry. Some attractions need tickets reserved in advance, and many close on a particular day of the week.
What to include in each entry
- The time and the name of the activity.
- The address or place, so you can find it without searching.
- Booking or confirmation references for hotels, tickets and transport.
- Opening hours, cost or a short note such as “bring passport”.
- A backup option for bad weather.
Making a shared itinerary
When travelling with others, copy the itinerary as text and send it to everyone, or print a copy for each person. Agree on the “must-do” items and the free choices in advance, so nobody is disappointed. Splitting a day, with one activity everyone does and one where people can choose, keeps groups happy.
Planning for the unexpected
Delays, cancellations and bad weather happen on almost every trip. Leave one lighter day for catching up, keep digital and paper copies of bookings and note the address and phone number of your accommodation in each day’s entry. Check cancellation terms before you book and list a backup activity for outdoor plans. A flexible itinerary with a few firm anchors lets you adapt without losing the whole day.
Budget and packing
Cost out your itinerary using the budget calculator to estimate daily spending, and use the savings goal calculator if you need to save for the trip. A printed itinerary also makes a handy packing prompt. For the planning phase, the moving checklist and event planning checklist show how dated task lists keep large tasks under control.
Sample day: a city break
A relaxed day might begin with breakfast at the hotel, a mid-morning museum visit booked for 10:30, lunch near the museum, an afternoon walk through a neighbourhood you want to explore, a rest at the hotel and dinner at a restaurant booked for 20:00. Each entry has a time and a place, and the booking reference sits in the note. When the day is on one card, you can see at once that nothing clashes and that there is room to rest.
Before you travel, check passport validity, visa rules, insurance and any health requirements for your destination, using official government sources.
Offline, print and calendar export
The printed itinerary is useful when your phone has no signal or a dead battery. Save a PDF from the print dialog for your phone’s offline files. Export an ICS file to put activities in Google, Apple or Outlook calendar. Events are exported as local times so they appear at the same clock time wherever you are. Download CSV to keep a record of your trip.
Privacy
Travel plans are sensitive: they reveal where you will be and when. This planner processes everything in your browser and does not send it to Just Plann. If you tick “Remember on this device”, the itinerary is stored in this browser only, and you can clear it when the trip is over.
